Your keys, your subscription, or free local models.
OMEGA runs on your own model access. Bring API keys for OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, xAI, OpenRouter, or any OpenAI-compatible endpoint, or connect a Codex or Claude Code subscription and it uses the plan you already pay for. It doesn’t proxy your calls or add a markup; you pay the provider directly at their rates. Or run everything locally on Omega-MLX, Ollama, or LM Studio and pay nothing.
Keys are encrypted in the macOS Keychain with a per-machine secret. They never appear in logs, audit trails, or the app, only masked previews like sk-…4f9a.
What it costs to run
- Local models (Omega-MLX, Ollama, or LM Studio): free. No cloud calls, no bill.
- A flat subscription: connect a Codex or Claude Code plan and OMEGA runs eligible work through it, with no per-token charges on top. A $20 plan handles everyday use; a $200/month Codex or Claude Code plan covers serious work (multi-agent pipelines, standing orders, deep research, long coding sessions) at that flat price, up to the plan’s limits. For heavy users it’s usually the cheapest way to run OMEGA: one predictable bill, no per-token surprises.
- Your own API keys (BYOK): pay providers per token, directly at their rates. Rough monthly ranges: light use a few dollars to about $25, regular use about $25-$80, heavy use about $80-$250, constant use $250 and up.
These are estimates, not quotes; your bill depends on which models you pick and how hard you run it. OMEGA uses cheap models for simple steps and saves the expensive ones for work that needs them. Set budget caps per task, per day, per week, and per month, and it stops before you go over.
